Hello all!

Wow, two wordy posts back to back, weird right? I promise to not do too many of these. It just so happens that the beginning of February marks the beginning of my next 30-day art action plan. It is also the end of my 90-day action plan.

I joined up with Tatyana of How to Draw Kawaii last year in her community. One of the first things we talked about was creating a 90-day action plan. So I set about creating mine. This post will be a bit about the success I had with that as well as what my goals for February will be. I plan on doing little blurbs at the beginning and end of each month to track my progress. I know February doesn’t have 30 days so for ease of my own mind my “30 days” is just going to be month by month.

90-Day Action Plan Results

This is what I wanted to accomplish in my 90 days, and really it was a plan for each month involved in the plan.

  1. Update my Shop – I added a free download feature so people didn’t have to give all of their details for a free download. – Done
  2. Create a Mandala every Monday – Although I was late a couple of times due to illness, in the end, I did manage to create a total of 13 mandalas. However, you may find only 12 on my Instagram and site as I did create one I didn’t share. I would like to have some to add to my book that is yet to be seen! – Done
  3. Create a mini tutorial every Thursday for a total of 13 tuts. – Done
  4. Finish my December mood tracker – Done
  5. Create 1 video a month for youtube – Done

The tracker and shop update were some little things I kept putting off so I wanted to get those done. The others were really about creating a regular schedule. I chose the mandala and mini tuts because for me I knew they would be quick and not something that required a whole lot of planning. So I was able to get those in and pepper in a few other things along the way.

I reached 100 followers on my Instagram in October. It took me 10 months to get that many! From Nov to now I have over 100 more for about 206 ish I kind of gain one and lose one so I can’t quite seem to make it over that 210 hump! BUT that is still huge, to double in 3 months’ time after it took me so long to grow when I started. I know a lot of that has to do with consistently posting each week and that comes right out of that 90-day action plan! So, THANK YOU Tatyana!

What’s Next for my Art Action Plan?

Well, you’re kind of looking at it. I want to focus my next 30 days on my blog, making sure posts are scheduled so they don’t get missed. Also, I want to experiment more, both with my social media, my art and my site.

  1. Four tutorials, are posted on Fridays
  2. Four mandalas, are posted on Mondays
  3. Finish at least 1 of my art projects
  4. Post 1 video on youtube
  5. Post 1 blog post that isn’t a tutorial or mandala.

It’s very similar to what I have done in the past so I don’t have to worry too much about overload.

What Changes are Coming?

I did decide to make some changes. First I decided to do a 30-day art action plan instead of a 90-day plan this was a suggestion from Tatyana and one I think will work well for me. I have also created a monthly calendar that I will follow so I can keep things on track.

I will start stocking piling art. Some days I find that I will create and create and create and I just want to share right away! No more! I will be saving those things so I can share them on the days I don’t have anything. I would love to post something every day, but it’s just not possible for me and it’s really not possible when I go on binges and don’t save those extras!

I’m also going to try to post more WIP’s so people can see the reality behind my art and really all art. My sketches … they don’t be pretty!

Perhaps You’ve already Noticed

Probably my biggest change, I will no longer be posting all of my mandalas for free. I do want to have some remaining free for people, so there will be a freebie once a month. I don’t find many people downloading these anyway and I want to create a book. At first, I planned on just creating an extra mandala every month to add to my book but it’s just not reasonable to keep up that pace.

I have a lot of them now so I will be working towards that book goal, but it may not happen until later this year. Of course, I will be doing blog posts about my progress. I will also be sharing my progress when it comes to earning money online through my art. I want to be transparent about it so that maybe my struggles could help someone else bypass this craziness and avoid some of my (many I’m sure) mistakes.

That’s it for the update as well as my plan for this month. I am so excited to start I really enjoyed the 90-day plan. I think having this extra bit of accountability will help even more! If you are also starting your own art action plan or just your art journey I’d love to hear about it. Let me know in the comments and we can walk this road together.
